We help your business grow

Our work is divided into five related themes or programmes, viz:

Trade and Regional Integration

In the dynamic world of today, a country’s trade policy cannot be isolated from its external economic environment. The fact of interdependence, the quest for larger markets and the restoration of historical economic ties are some of the factors that have led to increasing integration of economies at regional and global scales.
Our work under this programme explores the political economy of trade policy in Nigeria and Africa as a whole. We interrogate the constraints to the realisation of stated policy goals and objectives at national, regional and continental levels and seek creative ways to surmount those constraints.
We seek to be at the forefront of advancing economic integration within West Africa and the entire African continent through proactive engagement with the various processes and instruments such as African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the various ECOWAS protocols relating to free movement of goods and persons.

Digital Economy, Innovation Intellectual Property

The digital revolution has radically altered the way businesses are conducted around the world today, opening up unpresented opportunities for wealth creation and global prosperity. But also with these opportunities comes the risk of economic dislocation and increasing inequality. At the same time, the solution to poverty and inequality would largely come from inclusive economic growth driven by innovative ideas that can improve the lives of the poor across the globe.
The digital economy and accompanying innovation require a sound intellectual property regime to function properly. Our work under this theme seeks to explore how the public and private actors can work together to unleash the potentials of digital economy, accelerate innovation and reform national, regional and international regimes intellectual property protection towards a shared prosperity.

Competition and Consumer Protection

Markets function better and deliver value to all participants when they are free from abusive conducts and inefficient structures. We are committed to advocating for competition reforms across the various sectors of the Nigerian economy.
One of our immediate goals is to keep pushing for the enactment of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Bill in Nigeria, the operationalisation of the ECOWAS Competition Act, and the successful negotiation of the competition protocol of the AfCTA.
We also realise that while competition enhances consumer welfare, more needs to be done in the area of protecting consumer from harmful and unsafe products, unfair business practices. We are committed to promoting the full gamut of consumer rights and to ensure that laws and policies are adequate and effectively enforced in this regard.

Renewable Energy and Sustainability

Inadequate energy supply remains a major binding constraint to the development of many African nations. The race to energy sufficiency is happening at a time when the world I moving away for unsustainable and environment damaging sources of energy.
We believe that the improvement in renewable energy technology offers viable opportunity for Nigeria and African countries to pursue a more sustainable energy agenda. Our work in this area focuses on addressing the policy and commercial constraints to accelerate development and adoption of renewable in Nigeria and Africa. We are also committed to promoting other sustainable approaches to production and consumption such as circular economy, voluntary sustainability standards, etc.

Anti-Corruption and Public Sector Transparency

The public sector plays a critical role in enabling and regulating markets. Corruption, lack of transparency and inefficiency in the public sector all serve to impede the progress of society. We are committed to work towards strengthening systems and processes that enthrone transparency and accountability in the conduct of government business and management of public resources.
Our short term goal in this regard is to advocate for the reform of natural resource governance in Nigeria and Africa, particularly, the enactment of the Petroleum Industry Bills in Nigeria and the institution of a legal framework for beneficial ownership disclosure across Africa.
